Congressman Ron Wright issued the following statement on the National Defense Authorization Act for FY 2021 (H.R. 6935):

"I voted NO on the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

Although I agree with parts of this package, I could not in good conscience, vote for a $740+ billion defense authorization after such a flawed process. Members of Congress were given one vote to pass 175 amendments en bloc, and then when most members were far from the Capitol complex, hundreds of more amendments were passed by voice vote. The legislative process in the House of Representatives and how we do things as Members of Congress matter to the American people.

When our nation faces threats from Communist China, Russia, terrorists, and other adversaries across the globe, we owe it to our troops to go on the record when voting on issues that directly impact their service and our national security. This process is madness disguised as efficiency."
